Annie Harrigan
My name is Marie-Anne “Annie” Harrigan and I am a writer, editor, social media manager, digital artist, creative, and scholar. In May 2022, I graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a bachelor’s in History & Literature with a double major in Studies of Women, Gender, & Sexuality. As a student and research fellow with the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, my primary academic interests have been the intersections of socio-political movements, history, identity, popular culture, and media.
I currently work full-time as an Associate Editor for Thrillist, a travel publication part of Vox Media’s portfolio. Formerly, I worked as an editorial coordinator for Vox Media’s lifestyle pod comprised of food, drink, travel and wellness brands Thrillist, Eater, Punch, and PS (fka POPSUGAR). At Harvard, I served as a staff writer, Theater Editor, and Music Editor for the Harvard Crimson—the nation’s oldest daily college newspaper. Artistically, my main focuses are portraiture and representing under and misrepresented people in art—particularly, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and the LGBTQ+ community. Outside of work and the classroom, I am a self-taught digital artist with a focus on portraiture. As an artist and journalist, it is my mission to connect with artists, tell their stories, and do so with as much care as possible.
It is my goal that my commitments to intersectionality, justice, and representing the underrepresented come out in all aspects of my work.
